Early jungle / drum and bass set from Peshay receives the remastering treatment
In a new series, Peshay aims to revisit some of his classic mixes to remaster and release them for fans. Some of the mixes will be previously unreleased or extremely rare, which show off Peshay’s remarkable track selection and mixing abilities.
As we have emphasised before, Peshay is firmly imprinted in drum and bass history for the seminal tracks that he released. What many don’t know, or fail to remember, is that Peshay is, at heart, a DJ. He started DJing at a very young age and was a master of the turntables way before he ever focused his talents on music production.
A new series of classic and rare remastered live sets is in the works
First on the agenda in this new series is a lesser-known, but nonetheless great, mix he played for Dance Paradise in 1993. Dance Paradise were a rave organisation based in Lowestoft, Norfolk, United Kingdom. They first started promoting raves as far back as 1990 with nights originally held at The Ocean Rooms in Gorleston. As audiences increased for the legendary rave outfit, they moved venues to the now-famous Tiffany’s in Great Yarmouth.

1993 was a pivotal time for drum and bass music. We didn’t know it at the time, but, we did know that the music was changing and morphing into something different. Less rave sounds were evident in production and more emphasis and focus was being placed on breakbeats and basslines. Peshay remembers:
“It’s 30 years since I played this set and I can remember it like it was yesterday. I played Tiffany’s many times over the years it was a great venue and always packed out with a great team headed up by the ever-friendly Aleccos. I hope you all enjoy the mix.”
